this extension is a documentation. the original extension name on typo3 extension repository is "doc_tut_upgrade_380_to_420".
this document shows how to upgrade typo3 from version 3.8.0 to 4.2.0 (and php 4 to 5). it shows the way i had to do it for my installation.
